Maria Petrou-Hair Stylist / Salon Owner
What is your first memory?
Crawling under the bed in doctor office to escape a needle and being coaxed out by a red lollipop. Then later that day watching “Funny Face" at my cousin's house. Audrey Hepburn (and her clothes) made a lasting impression on me.
Best Childhood memory?
Summer in Ontario, meadows, grass, Buttercups and Daisies, sun, blue skies, breezes and halter tops.
What Smell Brings Back Great Memories?
My husbands deodorant. Freshly cut grass. Cheap cologne (my Ya Ya used to pat it on our heads before a special event).
What did you like to buy from the school cafeteria?
French fries, chocolate chip cookies and those disgusting but delicious Magritte donuts. Chocolate icing with that crazy sweet ‘cream’ filling.
How can you tell if someone is lying?
If they smile or their voice gets higher as they’re talking. I’m pretty gullible so I’m probably missing a lot. I choose trust.
What are 3 things you have faith in?
1. My love for my kids 2. That things are constantly changing. I can’t think of a third. I’m not so good at faith..
When was the last time you cried?
Last night watching ’The Sound of Metal” with my son. The goodbye scene between the couple choked me up. Also, the chimpanzee mom on IG that thought her newborn had died. When she realized her baby was there and alive. Too much. **see above faith in love for kids.
Any advice on getting a good nights sleep?
Nope.
